Baltimore Blast News Release

Baltimore - Baltimore Blast President and General Manager Kevin Healey announced today that the team has signed midfielder Ptah Myers, a former member of the Chicago Riot and Philadelphia KiXX, pending league approval. The 2011-12 MISL will kick off this weekend with a home-and-home series between the Wichita Wings and Missouri Comets on November 3rd and 4th and the Syracuse Silver Knights hosting the Rochester Lancers on the 4th. The Blast will open the season on November 12 against the Syracuse Silver Knights at 1st Mariner Arena.

Myers, who currently serves as the head coach of the Philadelphia University men's soccer team, played for the Riot last year and spent seven seasons with the KiXX before that. A member of the KiXX 2007 MISL Championship team, Myers also previously played for the Virginia Beach Mariners (USL) and the Albany Blackwatch Highlanders (PDL). A 2005 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Myers helped the Minutemen advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament as a sophomore and was an All-Atlantic 10 selection during his junior and senior years. As a senior he led the squad with 21 points (nine goals and three assists). He is also a member of the U.S. Men's National Futsal Team.

"We are excited to announce the addition of Ptah Meyers to the Baltimore Blast," said Blast head coach Danny Kelly. "He brings invaluable experience, versatility and pace as well as an MISL title while playing for the Philadelphia KiXX in 2007. Ptah will primarily be used as a defender but could see time in multiple spots."
