Blake Stewart Joins Mallards

Moline, IL-The Quad Mallards announced today that the team has signed forward Blake Stewart to a free agent contract. The 23-year old forward has played 110 United Hockey League games during his first two seasons in pro hockey.

Last year, Stewart played 77 UHL games. The Roselle, Illinois native recorded 16 goals with 14 assists for 30 points with 100 penalty minutes. Stewart began the 2005-06 regular season with the Adirondack Frostbite. In 13 games with the Frostbite, Stewart recorded nine points (five goals and four assists) including a hat trick in his Adirondack debut. He was dealt to Port Huron in exchange for future considerations on November 26th and recorded ten points (six goals and four assists) in 25 games with the Flags. The 6-foot, 170-pound forward joined the Missouri River Otters on January 18th and finished the season with the squad while recording 11 points (five goals and six assists) in 39 games.

Stewart made his pro debut with the Rockford IceHogs in 2004-05. After competing in eight games with the Hogs, he joined the Fort Wayne Komets. Stewart played 25 games with the Komets and scored five points (three goals and two assists) with 20 penalty minutes. He appeared in nine post-season games with Fort Wayne and netted four goals with an assist for five points.

To make room for Stewart on the roster, the Mallards waived rookie defenseman Bryan Gent. The rookie rearguard had one point (an assist) in five games as a Mallard.

The Mallards return to The MARK on Wednesday night vs. Rockford. On Friday night, the Mallards are in Rockford for a rematch with the Hogs. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show airs at 7:05 p.m. on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230. The b2 broadcast will be available via qcmallards.com beginning 10 minutes prior to face-off.

Saturday night, the Mallards host the Muskegon Fury. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a miniature replica of Jason Tapp's goaltender mask courtesy of Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and tickets are available at The MARK box office or via Ticketmaster (563-326-111 or on-line at ticketmaster.com).

Mel Foster, the Mallards and The MARK are collecting phone cards for troops. To participate, fans can deposit phone cards (good for 90 minutes or more) into the footlocker located at the new Mallards Team Store at The MARK. The cards will then be distributed to soldiers both domestically and overseas. This campaign kicks off this weekend and will continue until December 15th. All fans that participate will receive two Mallards tickets for the price of one.
