Port Huron Flags News Release

(PORT HURON, MICH.) - The Port Huron Flags dominated the visiting Kalamazoo Wings with 3 power play goals, as Goaltender Dustin Traylen picked up his second straight shut-out in a 4-0 victory, witnessed by 1,875 fans.

First period play started off slow, but picked up when Kalamazoo's Adam Elzinga was sent to the box for a tripping at 16:25. The Flags, who have struggled on the power play all season, took advantage of the extra man and T.J. Sakaluk scored his first goal at 17:14 assisted by Mark Cadotte and Chris Bogas. Port Huron outshot Kalamazoo 8 to 6 during the period.

The second period belonged to the Flags, right from the beginning. Just 49 seconds into it, Jeremy Tucker capitalized on a David Herring elbowing penalty, dumping the puck beyond Tom Askey. Tucker, assisted by Bogas and Sakaluk, recorded Port Huron's second power play goal of the night. Shortly after, Shawn Snider was called for hooking, and Tucker, Bogus and Sakaluk were ready to work their magic again. At 5:33, Sakaluk scored his second goal of the night with the assists from none other than Tucker and Bogas. The Wings recorded another 8 shots, but were no match for Port Huron, with 15.

With 5 minutes left in the third, Kalamazoo made a strange move and pulled their goalie, but even six men on the ice could not stop Ryan Markham from securing an empty net goal at 17:00, on an assist from Mike Olynyk The Flags defense finished strong, even with Kalamazoo's 12 shots on goal, compared to Port Huron's 5.

AT&T's 1st, 2nd and 3rd Stars of the Game were awarded to Sakaluk, Traylen and Bogas, respectively. Port Huron's next home game is on Friday, Dec. 8, against Rockford, at 7:30 p.m.

BLACK-OUT NIGHT! At the Flags' next home game on Friday, Dec. 8, all fans are encouraged to wear black, in support of the first night that the Flags will be wearing their black jerseys on the ice. Come watch Our Boys take on the Rockford IceHogs at 7:30 p.m. at McMorran Arena
