Mobile BayBears News Release
MOBILE, AL - The Mobile BayBears bounced back from a 13-2 defeat with a 7-2 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts on Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Chattanooga (26-15) led 2-0 in the top of the third inning when play resumed on Friday evening after Thursdays game was suspended. The Lookouts would go on to win 13-2 but Mobile (22-20) responded with a six run first inning in Friday's originally scheduled game to even the five game series at 1-1.
The Lookouts got the best of Mobile in the first game, picking up where they left off on Thursday. Chattanooga scored three more runs in the third, then tacked on two runs in the sixth inning, fourth in the seventh inning and two runs in the eighth inning.
The 19 hits by Chattanooga were the most the Lookouts have recorded in a game this season and the most the BayBears have given up in a game during the 2015 campaign. Mobile had previously given up 18 hits to the Birmingham Barons earlier in the week.
Chattanooga was lifted by Byron Buxton, who went 3-for-4, driving in four runs while Max Kepler and Adam Brett Walker combined to go 6-for-10 with seven RBI.
Mobile avoided their second shutout of the year scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth.
In game two the BayBears fell behind early when Chattanooga scored two unearned runs in the top of the first but Mobile responded with six runs in the bottom of the frame. The BayBears sent 10 batters to the plate in the first inning, driving in the six runs on seven hits. Brandon Drury and Zach Borenstein each tallied a RBI with a base hit and a double respectfully. Socrates Brito and Matt Pagnozzi each followed with a RBI single before Todd Glaesmann capped the first inning scoring with a two-run triple.
Rudy Flores added one more run with a solo homer to right in the bottom of the second inning. The five run cushion would be all RHP Aaron Blair would need as the righty improved to 3-2, allowing just the two unearned runs on four hits, walking one and striking out six in six innings on the mound.
The BayBears remain home for three more days during their current homestand. Game three between Mobile and the Chattanooga is scheduled for first pitch at 7:05 PM CT on Saturday night with gates opening at 6:00 PM.
