Blade and Jackals Clean Up Elmira

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that their trusty mascot Blade along with members of the front office staff will be helping to clean up downtown Elmira this Saturday.
Blade is leading his fellow front office staffers out of the First Arena on Saturday, May 20th, for Downtown Cleanup 2006. This is the annual group community service project to benefit downtown Elmira, orchestrated by Elmira Downtown Development, Inc. On Saturday, the 20th of May, volunteer groups of all ages will be cleaning up specific areas of downtown Elmira as part of EDD's on-going efforts to evoke the positive change happening in Elmira.
Saturday's Downtown Cleanup runs from 10 am to 12 pm and EDD will provide all of the cleanup supplies necessary. DTCU'06 will feature a free pizza party after the two-hour event, with Live music broadcast by 94 Rock and free tee shirts for all youth volunteers. All volunteers must be registered with EDD to participate in the post-cleanup party.
"For the short time I have been in Elmira, I have enjoyed its warm, quaint, hometown feel," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "I am proud to do my civic duty and get out a clean my new city. I encourage everyone in the community to join us for this wonderful cause."
Participating groups will meet in Wisner Park at 10 am on Saturday to register all
