St. Joseph Blacksnakes News Release

ST. PAUL, MN- For the second straight night the Blacksnakes (21-21, 47-43) were doomed by a seven-run inning in losing 11-5 to St. Paul (22-21, 51-40). The loss dropped St. Joe three-and-a-half games behind the Saints with six games to play, including two more in the series.

After the 'Snakes could not score with runners on the corners and nobody out in the first, the Saints scored one in the bottom half without a hit, on two walks, a stolen base and two passed balls for a 1-0 lead. St. Joe tied the game on Mark Burke's fourth home run of the year in the second at one-apiece. But the tie did not last long.

St. Paul sent 11 men to the plate in scoring seven times in the second for an 8-1 lead. St. Joe walked three hitters, had a throwing error and misplayed a bunt into a single in the inning.

The Blacksnakes ended up with three solo home runs in the game, including back-to-back shots by Cory Harris and Jake Whitesides in the sixth. It was the first time in franchise history the team accomplished the feat.

St. Joe has a long road to make the playoffs and that begins Monday night in St. Paul. J.C. Huguet (6-3) takes the hill in the middle game of the series against the Saints' Justin Lord (11-2). Game time is 7:05pm and the webcast can be heard at www.stjoeblacksnakes.com, starting at 6:45pm with the Heartland Health Pre-Game Show.
