Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. -- The curtain came down Sunday afternoon on the 2009 Brandon Wheat Kings' Training Camp with the hockey club's Annual Intrasquad Game.
The line of Aaron Lewadniuk, Matt Calvert and Scott Glennie combined for seven points in leading Team Black to a 4-1 victory before close to 900 fans at Westman Place.
Lewadniuk's two first period goals erased an early 1-0 deficit and second period goals by Calvert and Del Cowan rounded out the scoring. Glennie meanwhile added three assists for the winners.
Brayden Schenn replied for the Whites, who were outshot 31-30.
While veteran Andrew Hayes and 16-year old Liam Liston teamed up to stop 27-31 shots for Team White, 17-year old Ty Rimmer and former Edmonton Oil King Dalyn Flette stopped 29 of 30 shots that they faced in the Team Black net.
The Wheat Kings are expected to make a number of cuts tonight, before beginning preparations on their pre-season opener, scheduled for Friday night against the visiting Regina Pats.
