Blackhawks get ready for playoffs with hot guard
March 9, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Bellevue Blackhawks News Release
Bellevue, WA. The ABA Bellevue Blackhawks pro basketball team recently returned from their regular season-ending four-game road trip with a very hot player, Tim Ellis, who turned on his scoring talents as they got ready for the first round playoff game scheduled with the Texas Tycoons on Thursday night.
The Blackhawks played three games in three straight nights in three different states against the league's #4, #2 and #6 seeded teams, respectively - and then finished with a game against #2 Arkansas.
Ellis, a 23 year old, 6'4" shooting guard from Kansas State, who was acquired a week earlier, poured in 36 against Texas, 46 against Arkansas, 25 against Kansas City and came back with 42 against the RimRockers for a total of 149 points. According to Michael Tuckman, Blackhawks owner, "We are a better team than our record shows and better than a #13 seed. We're going into the playoffs with a lot of confidence. Tim and the rest of the guys are playing well."
Bellevue completed its regular season with a 10-16 record that included 18 away games. Due to the strength of schedule (the Blackhawks played one of the toughest in the league against playoff bound teams), the team made the playoffs despite the record. Tip off of their playoff game is at 705PM. For more information, visit www.blackhawkshoops.com or call 206 686 4636, ext 11 or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
