Calgary, AB - Pat Saunders had a hat trick and Kevin and Kyle Buchanan each added two goals but it was not enough as the Black Wolves fell to the Calgary Roughnecks 20-9 on Friday Night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Roughnecks (3-8) got the scoring going early, with Curtis Dickson finding the back of the net just 1:46 into play. Calgary opened up a 2-0 advantage just under four minutes later on a goal by Dane Dobbie, but a goal by New England's (3-6) Joel White cut the Roughnecks advantage to one at the 5:36 mark. However, Calgary rattled off five more goals in the next eight minutes and led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. Saunders and Kevin Buchanan each picked up one goal for the Black Wolves in the frame.

The second quarter was an even-scoring affair, with the two teams trading goals throughout before heading into the break with Calgary up 9-5. The Roughnecks dominated the third quarter, scoring four times in the first eight minutes of play before Jamie Lincoln picked up New England's first goal of the frame on the power play with just under four minutes remaining.

Kyle Buchanan picked up his first goal of the game just 34 seconds into the fourth quarter, looking to spark a Black Wolves rally. However, the Roughnecks rattled off four goals in a span of two minutes and 30 seconds to open up a 17-7 lead with 10 minutes to play. In the closing minutes, Kyle Buchanan and Saunders each scored for New England while the Roughnecks added three more goals.

Kevin Crowley was held scoreless for just the ninth time in his career for the Black Wolves, but dished out three assists in the loss. Mike Manley and Kyle Buchanan each had two assists for New England while Saunders, Brett Bucktooth and Mark Cockerton recorded one helper each.

Dobbie had six goals for Calgary to go along with two assists, while Shawn Evans scored five times and recorded six assists. Dickson had four goals and seven assists for the Roughnecks and Jeff Shattler picked up a hat trick.

In goal, Evan Kirk took the loss for New England, surrendering 13 goals on 32 shots in 34 minutes. Tye Belanger saw action inside the net for 26 minutes, allowing seven goals while making 18 saves. Frankie Scigliano had the win for Calgary, making 46 saves in 60 minutes.

New England will be back in action next Sunday, March 29th at Mohegan Sun Arena against the Minnesota Swarm. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
