
Black Wolves Secure Playoff Spot with Win over Seals

UNCASVILE, Conn. - The New England Black Wolves secured their fourth consecutive playoff berth with a 17-14 win over the San Diego Seals on Saturday night.
Callum Crawford had nine points on three goals and six assists while Joe Resetarits had two goals and five assists for seven points. Stephan Leblanc added two goals and four assists in the win for New England (8-7). New England joins the Georgia Swarm as the only teams to advance to the NLL Playoffs over those four seasons.
Resetarits got the scoring started just 1:44 into the game to give the Black Wolves a 1-0 lead. San Diego (9-6) tied it up with 9:19 to play in the quarter on a goal by Brandon Clelland but the Black Wolves took back the lead 50 seconds later when Brett Manney scored in transition. David Brock picked up another goal in transition just over a minute later to give New England a 3-1 lead, but the Seals answered with 6:15 to play to make it 3-2.
With 4:53 to play in the quarter, Reilly O'Connor found the back of the net to make it 4-2 and Dave Emala followed that up just under two minutes later to make it 5-2. Crawford picked up his first of the night with just under a minute remaining to make it 6-2 and Leblanc added another with 19.8 seconds remaining to close out the first with a 7-2 New England advantage.
Resetarits again got things started in the second, this time just 14 seconds in, to make it 8-2 Black Wolves. Crawford picked up his second a minute later and Emala found the back of the net again 25 seconds after that to make it 10-2 New England with 13:12 to play in the quarter. Connor Kelly picked up a goal for San Diego to make it 10-3, but Leblanc scored again to make it 11-3 with 9:15 to go in the frame. Garrett Billings scored to make it 11-4 with 6:59 to play, but Adam Bomberry scored on the following faceoff to give the Black Wolves a 12-4 advantage. Crawford secured his hat trick with 4:57 to play and Casey Jackson scored with 4:32 to go to make it 13-5 in favor of New England at the end of the half.
Brock scored his second of the night to get the scoring started for the Black Wolves with 6:58 to play in the third and Emala secured his hat trick 46 seconds later to make it 15-5. Connor Fields found the back of the net for the Seals with 4:10 to play in the frame to put the score at 15-6.
San Diego struck first in the fourth with Jackson finding the back of the net with 11:30 to play. He scored again just 24 seconds later to make it 15-8 with 11:06 remaining. Billings picked up his second of the night with 10:25 to go to put the New England advantage at six, 15-9. San Diego picked up another a minute later, but Kevin Buchanan found the back of the net with 8:32 to play to put New England back ahead by six. The Seals scored again, this time Turner Evans, with 7:01 to play but O'Connor picked up his second of the night with 5:05 to go to make the score 17-11 New England. San Diego rattled off three goals in the final four minutes but the Black Wolves secured the victory.
Emala finished the game with four points on three goals and one assist. O'Connor added two assists to go along with his two goals. In goal, Doug Jamieson had a career-high 48 saves for the Black Wolves.
The Black Wolves will be in action next on Friday, April 12 when they travel to Toronto to take on the Rock. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
