Black Wolves Overpower Knighthawks, 18-7

UNCASVILLE, CT - The New England snapped its three-game losing streak with an 18-7 victory over Rochester. The Black Wolves are now 4-4 on the season and the Knighthawks are 1-8. This also marked the most goals scored on Rochester so far this season.

Rochester started with a 2-0 lead in the first after receiving goals from Holden Cattoni and Dan Lintner. The Black Wolves were reluctant to tie things up with two goals six seconds apart. Callum Crawford slid the first one past Craig Wende in the net and Joe Nardella followed behind with his second career NLL goal to make the score, 2-2.

New England kept rolling into the second quarter and scored five more goals. Tony Malcom grabbed his fifth goal of the season and Adam Bomberry his first. Joe Resetarits, Reilly O'Connor and Stephan Leblanc also added to their many on the year. The Knighthawks were able to sneak two in before the half ended with the Black Wolves up, 7-4.

To open up the second half of play, New England came out of the gate with three quick goals to increase the lead to 10-4. Resetarits netted in two more to secure his fourth hat trick of the season and O'Connor netted in his second of the evening. The scoring did not stop there for the Pack. Jordan Durston and Colton Watkinson netted in two more between goals from Cattoni and Cory Highfield of Rochester.

The fourth quarter showed to be one for the book as Crawford came out and tallied three quick goals to take the lead 15-6 over the Knighthawks. Leblanc, O'Connor and Malcom finished off the scoring for the Pack. Crawford led the team with four goals and eight assists, Resetarits and O'Connor followed behind with three goals apiece.

Not only did scoring pick up in the fourth quarter but the penalties did as well. In a game with 94 penalty minutes, 63 came from Rochester's bench and 31 from the Black Wolves. The Black Wolves scored a season-high seven power play goals and the Knighthawks netted in two.

Overall, New England outshot its opponent 70-42, grabbed 35 more loose balls and went 21 of 30 from the faceoff X. Between the pipes, Doug Jamieson recorded 35 saves on 42 shots on goal and only allowed seven goals. Rylan Hartly and Wende tallied a combined 52 saves on 70 shots on goal.

New England will hit the road on Friday, Feb. 28 for the first time since Dec. 14. The Black Wolves will face the New York Riptide at 7:30pm at Nassau Coliseum. Then they will return home for Faceoff Against Cancer night on Mar. 1 at 5pm against Halifax.
