February 16, 2020 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
New England Black Wolves News Release

The Black Wolves came up short against the Wings in a chance to end their two-game losing streak. New England fell 14-11 to Philadelphia despite receiving four goals from Joe Resetarits and three from Callum Crawford.

Philadelphia jumped out to a 4-0 start in the first. Matt Rambo grabbed the first two goals Brett Hickey and Ryan Wagner added the next. The second quarter also started in the Wings favor. Rambo recorded a hat trick on a power play to put the Wings up 5-0.

Colton Watkinson was the spark that the Black Wolves needed to get the scoring run started. Watkinson scored a transition goal assisted by Adam Bomberry. The Wings knocked one in before the Pack could go on a 3-0 run. Tony Malcom grabbed a rebound on the defensive end and netted one home in transition. Resetarits scored the next one from deep after receiving a pass by Andrew Kew and Crawford. Crawford then went on to put in the final goal of the half on passes from Watkinson and Jordan Durston.

Headed into the half, the Black Wolves trailed 6-4, led 27-26 in shots, 36-33 in loose balls and 6-1 in caused turnovers.

New England started the second half still hot from the first and continued scoring for a 5-0 run. Crawford tallied his second assist of the game and Stephan Leblanc grabbed his first after the pair set up Jordan Durston with a shot at the center of the net. Resetarits kept the scoring alive and tied things up at 6-6. Leblanc and Reilly O'Connor's passing succession set up his goal.

Phiadelphia's Hickey was able to put a stop to New England's offensive run. The Black Wolves received goals from Crawford, Resetarits and Greg Downing. The Wings fought back and were able to grab five goals within the stretch. With four minutes, left in the game Philadelphia was up 12-10. The Wings extended their lead to four after netting in a goal on an empty net.

Crawford ended the scoring for the evening and tallied his third goal of the game.

Zach Higgins led all goalies with 50 saves. Doug Jamieson finished with 34 saves, on 47 shots on goal. Despite outshooting the Wings 61-47, grabbing more loose balls (77-58) and causing more turnovers (11-2) the Pack was not able to hang in late in the fourth.

New England will hit the floor again next week on Saturday, Feb. 22 for a matchup against the Rochester Knighthawks at 7pm. The Black Wolves will partner with Fox61 to honor first responders and military personnel. The team will also host a food drive in collaboration with United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.
