San Diego Seals News Release
(DENVER, CO) - The San Diego Seals split the season series with the Colorado Mammoth after a 10-7 loss on Saturday night at Pepsi Center.
"We came out slow and found ourselves chasing the game because we made avoidable mistakes," said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. "To win games in this league you need to play a full 60 minutes and we just weren't good enough tonight."
In his first appearance as a visitor at Pepsi Center, Jeremy Noble led the Seals offense with a first half hat-trick and five points. Forwards Connor Fields, Zack Greer and Connor Kearnan each added a goal, while defenseman Eli Gobrecht put one past Ward in transition.
"It was nice for Jeremy to come back [to Pepsi Center] and perform like he did," continued Merrill. "He gave his full effort out there tonight, but we needed all of our offense to come together be successful. We just needed to be better out there tonight."
The Seals defense held Colorado to just two fourth-quarter goals. Rookie goaltender Nick Damude allowed only one goal in 24 minutes of relief, but San Diego's slow start could not be overcome.
The San Diego Seals will host the Vancouver Warriors on Saturday, February 22nd for a morning Western Division showdown at 11:30 AM PT. Reserve your seats today at SealsLax.com.
