
Black Wolves Best Knighthawks in Regular Season Finale

Rochester, NY - Callum Crawford had a career-high seven goals and Doug Jamieson picked up a career-best 55 saves as the New England Black Wolves held off the Rochester Knighthawks 14-12 on Saturday evening at Blue Cross Arena.
Crawford added two assists for nine points in the win for the Black Wolves (9-9) to close out the regular season. Stephan Leblanc added a goal and five assists while Reilly O'Connor dished out five helpers for the second consecutive game.
Just 37 second into play Tyler Digby found the back of the net to put the Black Wolves up before Colton Watkinson scored in transition 32 seconds later to make it 2-0 New England just 1:05 into the game. Crawford made it 3-0 with 9:30 remaining in the quarter. With 4:25 left, Jamieson made a save and threw a pass down the turf on an empty Rochester (6-12) net to make it 4-0 Black Wolves.
To open the second, David Brock caused a turnover and scored on the ensuing transition just 46 seconds in to make it 5-0. Crawford picked up his second power play goal of the night with 13:03 to go in the half to put the score at 6-0 before Rochester got on the board on a goal by Chris Boushy with 12:32 to make it 6-1. Crawford found the back of the net yet again with 10:40 to play to put the score at 7-1 and again with 4:25 to play to make it 8-1 at halftime.
The Knighthawks picked up two goals in the first 51 seconds of the third quarter to make it 8-3. Rochester scored on the power play with 10:59 to go to put the score at 8-4 New England. Crawford picked up his fifth of the night on a penalty shot with 9:41 to play in the third to put the Black Wolves up 9-4. Joe Resetarits made it 10-4 on a power play goal with 6:00 to play and Leblanc increased the lead back up to seven, 11-4, with 3:28 left in the frame.
Rochester answered 19 seconds later on a goal by Ryan Benesch to make it 11-5 with 3:09 to go in the third. Crawford scored his sixth of the night with 1:37 to put the Black Wolves up by eight, 12-5 but Benesch found the back of the net again with 46.9 seconds to go and the third ended with New England ahead 12-7 after Boushy scored again with just one second left.
Nick Chaykowsky got things started for the Black Wolves with a goal just 33 seconds into the fourth in transition to make it 13-7 before Cody Jamieson scored for the Knighthawks with 13:52 to play to put the score at 13-8. Benesch picked up his third of the night with 8:53 to play to make it 13-9. Rochester made it 13-10 with 7:58 on a transition goal but Crawford had his seventh of the night with 5:00 to play to make it 14-10. Benesch answered right back just 13 seconds later to cut it back to a three-goal advantage. Austin Shanks made it a two-goal game with 3:58 to play, but the Black Wolves held on from there.
Benesch led the Knighthawks with seven points on four goals and three assists while Shanks had two goals and three assists.
The Black Wolves will be in action next in the East Division Semi-Finals on Saturday, May 4 when they travel to Buffalo to take on the No. 1 seeded Bandits. Game time at the KeyBank Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
