Black Hawks Announce 2010-2011 Preseason Schedule

Waterloo, Iowa-An expanded preseason schedule will give the Waterloo Black Hawks' coaching staff and fans extra opportunities to size up the players hoping for a place on the 2010-2011 roster. The team unveiled its eight-game exhibition schedule Wednesday.

Four of the Black Hawks preseason contests will be played at home in Young Arena, beginning September 14th with a preview of the regular-season opener against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Waterloo also plays in front of a friendly crowd later that weekend on Saturday and Sunday, September 17th and 18th, against the Sioux City Musketeers, and Tuesday, September 21st versus the Des Moines Buccaneers.

"We'll have a lot of new faces this season," said Black Hawks Head Coach P.K. O'Handley. "As a staff, we can learn a lot about these players by seeing them in game situations. With eight preseason games, everybody we are looking at should have an opportunity to prove themselves."

All eight exhibition games, including the USHL Fall Classic in Sioux City, will be completed within a two-week window, immediately providing the coaches with a measure of their players' stamina and conditioning. Last season, the Hawks played six times prior to the regular season. Specific details on the preseason schedule follow below:

All tickets for the Black Hawks' home preseason games at Young Arena will be $7 and available from the Waterloo Black Hawks box office in early September. Season ticket holders will have all home preseason games included with their ticket package.
