Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - The Waterloo Black Hawks gained a large haul of notable future assets Tuesday as the result of a trade with the Tri-City Storm.

The swap brings the Hawks a Second and a Third Round selection during Phase I of the 2022 USHL Draft, as well as twin First Round Phase II picks in both 2022 and 2023. In exchange, the Storm receive prospect Jeremy Wilmer and a Third Round Phase II choice in 2023.

Phase I of the USHL Draft is focused on players in their first year of eligibility to play in the league. Some Phase I picks compete for immediate roster spots, but more often, these prospects form the core of future teams. Phase II is typically focused on the year ahead.

The Black Hawks open the 2021/22 season during the USHL Fall Classic, meeting the Green Bay Gamblers on September 23rd. The first regular season home game at Young Arena this fall is scheduled for October 1st versus the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Season tickets are currently available; visit waterlooblackhawks.com or call (319) 232-3444.
