
Black Bears Win 5-2 at Walla Walla

Walla Walla: The Cowlitz Black Bears defeated the Walla Walla Sweets 5-2 behind an offensive breakout that produced 12 base hits.
Konnor Armijo (Santa Ana) had an RBI single to put the Black Bears ahead in the first inning. After the Sweets scored two runs in the bottom of the second, the Black Bears got a pair of runs to retake the lead in the third. Brian Frattali (Portland) had an RBI single and Tyler Madrid (Santa Ana) had a sacrifice fly.
Frattali was responsible for the Black Bears last two runs with a home run in the fifth and sacrifice fly in the sixth. He was joined by Madrid and Nick Paxton (Mt. Hood) as Black Bears with multiple base hits.
Leko Galusha (Lower Columbia) got the win, allowing only two runs in seven innings; Galusha had five strikeouts. Kevin Sprague (UC Riverside) pitched a scoreless inning in the eighth and Taylor Williams got out of a mini jam in the ninth to earn the save.
The Black Bears next home game is Friday, July 20th against the Wenatchee AppleSox. It will also be the third annual Gallery of Diamonds Diamond Dig! The first 200 women through the gate will dig for diamonds after the game.
