Black Bears Return Home and Get Win

PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears returned home to Wahconah Park Monday night determined to snap a four game losing streak. A home run from Michael Moore, strong hitting from the rest of the line up and dependable pitching helped them defeat the Adirondack Lumberjacks 7-3. Every Black bear had at least one hit.

Dallas Mahan went 6 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits, allowing 2 runs while striking out 2 and walking 3. New Black Bear Michael Moore only had one hit on the night, a towering home run over the left center field wall but he also crossed the plate twice. Joe Kerrigan went 3 for 5, Todd Brock went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and a run scoring triple and Ryan Nevins went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's and 2 runs scored.

Reliever Joe Cotton came to close out the 7th and finish the game allowing just two hits while striking out 1. The Black Bears will play the second of their three game series against Adirondack Tuesday night at Wahconah Park with knuckleballer Trad Sokol scheduled to be on the mound.

Fireworks will follow the final game of the series on Wednesday night. On Thursday July 4th there is no game. Wahconah Park will open to the public at 4pm with a Camp Baseball Challenge Game between Camp Winadu and Camp Lenox. At 7pm the Pittsfield Parade Committee will present a variety show featuring several musical acts including the Patriots Marching Band. At 9:30pm Berkshire County's largest fireworks show, "Energy In The Sky" courtesy of ElectraStor, will begin. Admission on Thursday is free.
