Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
Bellingham: In baseball, as in life, when it rains, it pours. That was the case Saturday night, when the Cowlitz Black Bears lost to the Bellingham Bells 13-3.
The Bells batted around in both the fourth and sixth innings to do the majority of their damage, scoring a combined 11 runs in those two innings.
Brian Carroll (UCLA) had an outstanding game for the Black Bears, reaching base three times on two hits and utilizing his outstanding speed to score the team's first run. Carroll also turned a double play when he made a running catch and made a perfect throw to get a runner off first.
Alex Rubanowitz (UC Riverside) had an RBI single and Brian Frattali (Portland) brought in the last Black Bears run of the night with a run-scoring double. Another highlight for Cowlitz was the scoreless ninth inning recorded by Kyle Kuck (Santa Ana), a first baseman making his first pitching appearance of the season.
The Black Bears next home game is Tuesday, July 10 against the Walla Walla Sweets. It will be Azteca $2 Tuesday, featuring $2 GA tickets, $2 hot dogs, $2 soda, and $2 beer.
