Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
Klamath Falls: Trailing wire-to-wire, the Cowlitz Black Bears lost 14-2 to the Klamath Falls Gems Thursday night to fall to 7-12 in league play heading into a pivotal two-game series against the Bend Elks.
Alex Rubanowitz (UC Riverside) had a double and scored the Black Bears first run; Kyle Kuck (Santa Ana) contributed a double as well and Austin Wobrock (Orange Coast) had a single. Cody Rogina (UC Riverside) was a major bright spot on the mound, pitching two and two thirds scoreless innings.
The highlight of the night was a triple play turned by the Black Bears in the second inning. With bases loaded and no outs, a Gems hitter hit a line drive that was caught by Wobrock. Each runner went on contact and Wobrock threw to second for an out before the ball was whipped to first to complete the triple play.
The Black Bears next home game is a doubleheader against Bellingham on Sunday, July 1st that begins at 5:05 PM. It will be Best Care-Local Care Presents Kids Club and Senior Sundays. There will be a $2 discount for all seniors. Kids Club members get in for free and all kids get to run the bases after the game.
