Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
Walla Walla: July 18, 2012: The Black Bears were unable to convert on numerous opportunities and fell 5-1 to Walla Walla Thursday night to have a three-game win streak snapped.
After Walla Walla took the lead, the Black Bears tied the game at one in the fourth inning. Kyle Kuck (Santa Ana) led off the inning with a double, Alex Rubanowitz (UC Riverside) singled, and Justin Hazard (UCLA) brought in Kuck with a single of his own. The Black Bears had runners at first and second and were unable to get any more runs, however. The team left the bases loaded in both the second and ninth innings.
Austin Wobrock (Orange Coast) was the only Black Bear with multiple hits, recording a pair of singles. Having not pitched since June 19 due to arm problems, Mitchell Tripp (Oregon State) had a very successful comeback, pitching a scoreless inning in relief.
The Black Bears next home game is Friday, July 20th against the Wenatchee AppleSox. It will also be the third annual Gallery of Diamonds Diamond Dig! The first 200 women through the gate will dig for diamonds after the game.
