PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bear bats came alive on Tuesday night against the Quebec Le'Capitals. The only problem was the Quebec bats were just a little more alive as the Le'Capitals beat the Black Bears 10-6. The Black Bears hammered out 13 hits on the night but failed to convert on several scoring opportunities.

Veterans Chris Sawyer and Eric White led the Black Bears in hitting with Sawyer getting 3 for 4 with tow RBI's and White connecting for 3 for 4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Starting pitcher Paul Avery got off to a solid start striking out the first batter he faced but it went downhill in the second when he allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and 1 walk. Quebec scored again in the third, fifth and three in the eighth.

Quebec starter Reggie Leplante walked the first two men he faced and then threw a wild pitch to the backstop allowing Todd Brock and Joe Kerrigan to advance. Eric White then hit a sac-fly scoring Brock but was able to get out of the inning with a 6-4-3 double play. In the second inning Angel Valdez led off with a single followed David Valdez who also singled. A double steal attempt failed at third for Angel Valdez leaving David Valdez on second with one out. Chris Sawyer then doubled in the Valdez.

The Black Bears scored 3 runs in the third inning. Eric White doubled followed by Chris Vasquez who hit a single scoring White. Adrian Mendoza then singled moving Vasquez to third. Angel Valdez then grounded out to the pitcher scoring Vasquez. David Valdez then hit a pop fly for the second out of the inning moving Mendoza to third. Chris Sawyer the singled scoring Mendoza. The other Black Bear final run happened in the fourth inning. Joe Kerrigan, White and Vasquez all singled to load the bases. Mendoza hit a fly ball to center scoring Kerrigan. The third game of the four game series happens tomorrow night at Wahconah Park at 7:05.
