PITTSFIELD-The Berkshire Black Bears suffered their third loss in a row Sunday afternoon at the hands of the Albany Colonie Diamond Dogs. The Black Bears got 6 strong innings from starter Aaron Akin who allowed 3 runs, on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 2.
The Black Bears left 10 runners on base, which proved to be their downfall. Jim Harrison came in to relieve Akin and pitched 2 innings of no hit baseball. Joe Cotton came in to work a perfect 9th inning getting one strike out. Curtis Goodwin went 3 for 5 getting 2 singles and a double; he also scored the only Black Bears run. Ryan Smith had a single and now has a base hit in 5 games in a row. Other Black bears to single included Joe Kerrigan and Leroy Griffith. The loss gives the Black Bears a record of 10-19.
The Black Bears now go on their longest road trip of the season, 7 games. They return to Wahconah Park on Monday July 1 when they will take on Adirondack at 7:05.
