Bisons UTL Otto Lopez named International League Player of the Week Lopez helped lead the Bisons offense last week with a multi-home run game that included an inside-the-park home run

AUGUST 1, 2022: Major League Baseball announced today that Buffalo Bisons UTL Otto Lopez has been named the International League Player of the Week for the week of July 25-31.

Lopez has raised his batting average nearly 30 points since the All-Star Break by going 12-26 with a double, two triples, two home runs, six RBI with a pair of walks. The second year Triple-A utilityman finished the month of July with a .299 batting average and is now batting .267 overall this season.

The 23-year-old followed up a three-hit game on July 27 against the Worcester Red Sox with a 4-4 performance two days later that included a pair of homers. His first round tripper was an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the second inning, while over the fence solo homer came in his next at-bat. He also scored four runs and stole two bases in Buffalo's 7-6 win over the WooSox.

Lopez finished July with 10 extra-base hits, nearly doubling his season total in that category and added 10RBI for a season total of 25. He also stole five bases to bring his 2022 season total up to 10 in 14 tries. He begins August batting .267 in 61 games for the Bisons this year and is slashing.357/.424/.781.

Lopez is the first Bisons position player honored by the International League this year, while four different pitchers have been named the league's Pitcher of the Week. LHP Nick Allgeyer, RHP Thomas Hatch, RHP Casey Lawrence, and RHP Shaun Anderson have all received weekly honors from the IL earlier this season.

The Bisons will begin a two-week road trip starting on Tuesday night against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Following the six-game set at PNC Field the team will travel to Syracuse for a six-game series against the Mets.
