TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Columbus Clippers in the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a 3-1 series win over Lehigh Valley to begin this 8-game homestand. Buffalo is in 2nd place in both the IL North Division (8.5 games back) and in the IL Wild Card race (3.5 games back). After this weekend, the Bisons leave for an 8-game roadtrip against the IronPigs, Yanks, and PawSox.

WILD RACE: The Bisons enter tonight's game 3.5 games back of Louisville for the IL's lone Wild Card spot. Columbus is the Herd's final non-divisional opponent as the club will stay in the IL North over the final 30 games of 2010. With 34 games left, Buffalo has at least one more game left than every team in the race. Only Indy (19) has more home games left than the Herd's 18.

vs. CLIPPERS: The Bisons are 2-2 against the Clippers this year as the teams split a four-game set in Columbus, July 27-30. LHP Jeremy Sowers starts for the Clippers tonight. The southpaw was 18-9 with a 2.56ERA in 41 career starts with Buffalo from 2005-2008. He was the team's Pitcher of the Year in 2006 and holds the third-lowest ERA in the Bisons Modern Era.

"MISCH"IN ACCOMPLISHED: In his last start, LHP PAT MISCH became the first Bison since RHP JEREMY GUTHERIE (12-10) in 2005 to win 10 games in a single campaign. On July 31, the lefty threw eight shutout innings, allowed only three hits, and struck out seven IronPigs for the victory. The IL All-Star is now 10-4 with a 3.24ERA in a league-high 139.0 innings pitched.

NIEU KID IN TOWN: OF KIRK NIEUWENHUIS has been promoted to the Bisons today. The 22-year old Eastern League All-Star is making his Triple-A debut with the Herd. Nieuwenhuis hit .289 (114-394) with 35 doubles, two triples, 16 homers and 60RBI in 94 with the Double-A Binghamton Mets this year. His 53 extra-base hits were six more than any player in the EL, and he also ranked 2nd in runs scored (81) and doubles.

ROSTER MOVE: RHP BRIAN BRUNEY has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to August 3. Bruney has not pitched since July 27 in Columbus. The righty is 0-1 with a 4.50ERA in eight games with the Herd (8.0IP, 9H, 7BB, 7K).

METS UPDATE: The Mets (54-54) fell to the Braves, 8-3, in Atlanta last night. New York committed four errors in the field and was outhit, 11-6, by the Braves. INF LUIS CASTILLO went 2-3 with an RBI while former Bisons C JOSH THOLE went 1-3 with a walk and a run scored. Having lost two of three to Atlanta, the Mets will now continue their six-game roadtrip on Friday night in Philadelphia at 7:05 p.m.
