TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons face the Durham Bulls in game two of a four-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo is looking to rebound after being shutout in back-to-back contests for the first time since April 10 and 11, 2009. Tonight's game continues Buffalo's eight-game roadtrip that began with a four-game spit in Norfolk. The Bisons will return home June 12 for an eight-game homestand starting with Lehigh Valley.
THE ROAD WARRIOR: RHP TOBI STONER takes the mound for the Herd tonight in Durham. Stoner hasn't lost on the road since April 23. Since then, the Buffalo righty is 3-0 with a 2.88ERA in four starts away from Coca-Cola Field. Overall, Stoner is 3-2, with a 3.89ERA on the road this season.
MOW 'EM DOWN: RHP JOSE DE LA TORRE is currently riding a seven inning scoreless streak that has lasted his past four outings. In his last four appearances, De La Torre has allowed no hits and only three walks. He has struck out four batters and lowered his ERA from 9.00 to 2.70.
WHO NEEDS A GLOVE?: DH-ing must agree with Bisons' INF MIKE JACOBS. In 11 games as the Buffalo's designated hitter, Jacobs is currently batting .408 with 2 home runs and 13RBI. Over a 144-game season, the Bison slugger would be on a pace for 26 homers and 170RBI. As a team, Herd designated hitters are batting .309 with eight blasts and 31RBI in 37 games.
TURN IT UP: INF JUSTIN TURNER has reached base safely in all eleven games he's been with Buffalo. Turner was designated for assignment by Baltimore on May 21 after playing 23 games with Norfolk to begin the season. In his time with the Bisons, the infielder has averaged .318 (14-44) with five RBI and six runs scored.
F-MART UPDATE: OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ was transferred to Single-A St. Lucie in his attempt to return from a left hamstring strain. Martinez missed 23 games since being placed on the DL on May 14. The outfielder hit .244 (20-82) with two home runs and nine RBI in 22 games prior to the injury. In two games with St. Lucie, F-Mart is 2-7 with a double and one run scored.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (31-27) defeated the Padres 2-1 in the first game of their three-game series from Citi Field. Former Bison INF IKE DAVIS smashed a walk-off home run in the eleventh inning to seal the victory for New York. RHP MIKE PELFREY threw nine innings, allowing just one run and recording six strikeouts for the Mets. New York and San Diego will play again tonight at 7:10 p.m.
