Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Pawtucket Red Sox in a pair of games at Dunn Tire Park (5:05 p.m.). The teams will start with the conclusion of a nine-inning game that was suspended on April 23. That contest will be restarted with two outs in the bottom of the first inning with Pawtucket leading 3-0. After that game, the teams will play a second, seven-inning game. RHP James Deters will make his Triple-A debut for Buffalo in game one with RHP Sean Smith starting in game two.
SITUATION REPORT: April 23's game, which will be restarted tonight, was suspended with two-outs in the bottom of the first inning and a 1-1 count on outfielder Ben Francisco with no one on base. Pawtucket scored three runs in the top half of the frame as Ed Rogers singled, Jeff Bailey walked and Brandon Moss homered to left field off Bisons starter Jeff Harris.
ROSTER MOVES: Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo and pitcher James Deters join the team today. Choo was optioned from Cleveland after hitting .294 (5-17) with five RBI in six games for the Tribe. Deters has been promoted from Single-A Kinston for today's first game. Deters was 1-2 with a 3.38ERA in seven games with the K-Tribe.
RED HOT BAT: Franklin Gutierrez has the longest active hit streak in the International League. The outfielder has hit in 14 straight heading into today's action with a .413 (26-63) average, four doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and 17 runs scored. Eleven of the 14 games have been multi-hit performances, raising his season average to .380 (3rd in IL).
RUNNING HERD: Luis Rivas stole the Bisons 36th base of the season last night. The Herd has had at least one steal in each of their last nine games. Buffalo is second in the International League in stolen bases (36) with an 84.7% success rate.
HIGH-POWERED: The Bisons enter tonight's games as the highest scoring team in the International League (130 runs scored). The scoring has been a team effort as seven different players have 10+ runs led by Franklin Gutierrez (18, T3rd in the International League). Five different Bisons have 10+ RBI, led by Keith Ginter (19, 3rd in IL)
