TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the second game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo lost last night to Syracuse by a score of 2-0. Today's game is the second a stretch of 22 home games in the next 27 days for the Herd.

THRUWAY CUP: The Bisons and Chiefs are now in a virtual tie for first place in the 2012 Thruway Series standings. At 12-8, the Herd is just percentage points ahead of Syracuse (14-10) for the Cup. Buffalo does hold the tie-breaker with a 7-4 record against the Chiefs this season. Rochester is in third place at 7-15 in Thruway Series games this year.

WE ARE FAMILIA: RHP JEURYS FAMILIA takes the hill tonight for his league-leading 23rd start of the season. In three previous starts against the Chiefs this season, the righty is 2-0 with a 2.20ERA. Familia has also struck out 16 Syracuse batters in 16.1 innings this year. Familia is 9-3 in August in his minor league career so far, posting a 3.15ERA and strikeouts 20 starts (105.2IP).

WHEELER: RHP ZACK WHEELER has officially been added the roster and will make his Bisons and Triple-A debut against the Chiefs on Sunday. The Mets #1 prospect by Baseball America has joined the club after a great season at Binghamton (AA). With the B-Mets, Wheeler was 10-6 with a 3.26ERA and an Eastern League-best 117 strikeouts.

OLSON: LHP GARRETT OLSON allowed just two hits in seven innings last night for his longest outing of the season. He retired 17 straight batters, the most for a Bisons pitcher since Chris Schwinden retired 17 consecutive Tides on June 26, 2011. Olson leads all active Bisons pitchers with 94 strikeouts.

BISONS BITS: INF JOSH RODRIGUEZ went 1-4 with a double last night. It was his 36th extra base-hit in 2012 and his 14th in just 35 games with the Herd...LHP ROBERT CARSON struck-out two batters last night, his 13th multi-strikeout appearance in 35 combined games with Binghamton (AA) and Buffalo this year...The Bisons placed RHP DYLAN OWEN on the disabled list (retroactive to August 1) with a left ankle sprain.

METS UPDATE : The Mets (52-54) beat San Francisco 9-1 yesterday in the final game of their series with the Giants. INF RONNY CEDENO tied a career-high by driving in five of the nine runs. The Mets start a three-game series with San Diego tonight (10:05 p.m.) as RHP R.A. DICKEY looks for an major league-best 15th win.
