Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: This evening, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Ottawa Lynx in the third game of a four-game series from Lynx Stadium (7:05 p.m.). The Herd has won four straight, including the first two games in the series against Ottawa. On the hill tonight will be LHP Cliff Lee. The southpaw is still looking for his first Bisons win this season, appearing in only five games. Ottawa will counter with LHP J.A. Happ.
vs. OTTAWA: The Bisons are 8-6 against Ottawa this year. With a victory tonight, Buffalo would clinch their ninth winning season series in 10 years over the Lynx. The Herd's 95 wins over Ottawa since rejoining the IL are the most against any team.
IL BATTING RACE: Ben Francisco (.326) is back on top of the International League batting race. Francisco went 2-5 last night while Rochester's Jose Morales (.322) went 0-3 against Scranton/WB. Francisco won the NY-Penn League batting championship (.349) in 2002. The last Bison to win a batting championship was Mark Ryal, who hit .334 in 1990 (American Association).
NEW SPOT: In six games as the Bisons' #2 hitter, Keith Ginter has hit .500 (12-24) with two home runs, six RBI, four walks and nine runs scored. Ginter enters tonight with a seven-game hit streak (longest active for a Bison). He also leads the Bisons with 59 walks on the year (T6th in the IL) while his .383 on-base percentage is 2nd on the Herd (T7th in the IL).
MILLER TIME: RHP Adam Miller pitched yesterday for the first time since July 19. The prospect threw a perfect inning of relief, striking out a pair of batters. Miller had been on the disabled list since July 25 with right elbow inflammation.
HE'S NO JOKE: Today, the International League named LHP Aaron Laffey their Pitcher-of-the-Week. Laffey went 2-0 with a 1.93ERA last week. Since June 2, the southpaw is 9-0 with a 1.92ERA in 13 games. He's the only Bisons' starter to win nine straight decisions, and first pitcher to do it since reliever Jack Cressend in 2004.
