Attendance Record Will Fall Tuesday

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre baseball franchise will see a fifteen year-old attendance record fall on Tuesday night vs. Rochester.

In 1992, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons attracted a record 560,454 fans. With three home games remaining, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees are set to shatter the mark.

Through August 20, the Yankees have drawn 552,255 fans, just 8,199 short of the record. The advance sale for Tuesday, August 21 vs. Rochester already surpasses this figure.

For one lucky fan, the night will be extra special. One fan will be selected at random and receive some cool gifts at the bottom of the first inning on top of the home dugout.

He or she will receive a three day/two night stay for two adults in the Champagne Tower at one of the four Caesars Pocono Resorts, dinner for four and four tickets to see The Last Comic Standing live at Caesars Cove Haven on Thursday, September 27, a signed Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees team ball, two Yankees hats, signed photos from Eric Duncan, Shelley Duncan and Chris Britton, a Yankees team card set and two Yankees t-shirts.

"It's been a wonderful and extremely successful season," said Yankees Executive VP/COO Jeremy Ruby. "Our fans have really come out to support us in our first year as the Yankees affiliate."

"Our staff has also worked extremely hard to make this record possible and is already hard at work selling tickets for 2008. If we continue to focus on customer service and develop unique marketing concepts, we are optimistic the record will only last one season."
