
Bisons Add RHP Chris Mason

The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, today announced that RHP Chris Mason has been promoted to the Herd from Binghamton (AA). Mason is scheduled to start TONIGHT as the Bisons close out a four-game series against the Yankees in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (7:05 p.m.).
Mason, 25, joined the Mets organization as a free agent on July 24, 2009. He made four appearances (three starts) with the B-Mets and was 1-1 with a 2.87ERA with nine strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work. He also pitched in three games with St. Lucie (A) after joining the organization (10.0IP, 11H, 5R, 5ER, 3BB, 6K).
Mason began the 2009 season in Tampa Bay's system, going 3-5 with a 6.24ERA in 24 games and three starts with Montgomery (AA) (53.1IP, 72H, 44R, 37ER, 22BB, 34K). He also made a spot start for Durham on June 1 (ND, 4.0IP, 8H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 3K).
Mason was the 2007 Southern League Most Outstanding Pitcher and was selected as the Double-A Pitcher of the Year by MiLB.com for going 15-4 with a 2.57ERA in 28 starts with Montgomery.
