Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, today activated RHP Freddy Garcia to their roster. The two-time American League All-Star is expected to start for the Bisons tonight in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against the Yankees (7:05 p.m.).
Garcia, 32, has spent the 2009 season in extended spring training in Port St. Lucie, FL. He was limited to five games and 15.0IP in Detroit's organization in 2008 as he recovered from labrum surgery on his right shoulder (August 29, 2007).
Garcia is a career 118-77 with a 4.07ERA in 266 major league games with Seattle, Chicago-AL, Philadelphia and Detroit. He has won 13 or more games in a season seven times, including a career-best 18-6 with the Mariners in 2001. That year, he led the American League with a 3.05ERA. Garcia was an All-Star in 2001 and 2002 while with Seattle.
The Mets signed Garcia as a minor league free agent on January 23, 2009.
