Biscuits Use Long-Ball in Blowout Win

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (33-31) crushed a season-high four home runs while collecting a season-high 19 hits in a 13-2 win over the Huntsville Stars (27-35) Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Kevin Kiermaier hit the first blast of the night with a runner on in the fifth inning. Kiermaier's second home run of the season gave the Biscuits a 4-1 lead. Mark Thomas hit the second home run of the night for the Biscuits to lead off the sixth inning and make it 7-1. Later in the sixth, Todd Glaesmann ripped a two-run homer to left-center to make it 10-1, followed by a solo shot from Kyeong Kang to make it 11-1 Biscuits. The long balls from Glaesmann Kang were back-to-back.

The Biscuits started out trailing 1-0 after the second inning. An RBI-single from Kiermaier in the third tied the game at one. Robby Price then gave the Biscuits a lead with an RBI-single in the fourth.

Montgomery went on to score four in the fifth six in the sixth while trading single-runs with the Stars in the eighth.

Lost in the offensive-explosion was the Biscuits-debut of starter, Michael Colla (1-0). Colla went six innings while only allowing one run and striking out six for the win.

The Biscuits will play the series-finale with the Stars Tuesday night at 7:05. LHP Enny Romero will start for Montgomery, while Huntsville will send RHP Andy Moye to the mound.
