Montgomery Biscuits News Release

Montgomery -- The Biscuits split a doubleheader with the Suns in front of 5,544 on Sunday at Riverwalk Stadium. The second game of the day featured a stellar pitching performance by the Suns' Randy Leek en route to downing the Biscuits 11-2. Leek had a perfect game broken up in the seventh inning by a B.J. Upton single. He had retired the first 19 batters that he faced.

Jason Repko led-off the game with a home run to right field that was quickly followed by four more first inning runs. Jesse Hoorelbeke doubled down the right field line to plate Garcia, who singled earlier. Derek Michealis then stepped up and belted a two run homer to make the game 4-0. The Suns final run of the inning came on a sacrifice fly by Brett Dowdy that scored Brennan King. Jacksonville would go on to score six more runs in the ballgame.

Jim Magrane's first start with the Biscuits included solid pitching, defense, and a 3-2 win for the home team in Game one of Sunday's doubleheader with the Jacksonville Suns.

The Suns jumped on Montgomery in third, when a Fernando Cortez error allowed Edwin Bellorin to score from second base, making the game 1-0. A Nick Alvarez single brought in the second run of the inning for Jacksonville, to push the lead to

2-0.

The Biscuits would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning, when Juan Salas jacked his first homer of the season, an opposite field shot that cleared the right field wall. Salas' home run gave the Biscuits all of the runs that they would need.

The Biscuits and Suns play game three of the series Monday at Riverwalk Stadium. Montgomery will send righty Jarod Matthews (1-2, 3.38 ERA) to the mound to face Jacksonville lefty Derek Thompson (1-0, 1.86 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
