Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, AL - Man's best friends will be welcome at Riverwalk Stadium on Sunday as the Montgomery Biscuits hold Bark in the Ballpark during their 2:05 PM game with the Chattanooga Lookouts (Los Angeles Dodgers). The Riverwalk Stadium gates will open for Bark in the Ballpark at 12:50 PM.
All dogs are welcome at the ballpark and will have the opportunity to take in the game from two doggy-friendly areas of Riverwalk Stadium. Canine spectators will be welcomed in the lawn seating area as well as dog-friendly section 120.
Additionally, human and canine spectators alike will be treated to Jake "The Diamond Dog" entertaining throughout the ballgame, including serving as the Biscuits bat boy for a portion of the game and performing on-field skits during inning breaks.
"Every day when I leave for the ballpark, my puppy (Charlie) looks at me with these big puppy-dog eyes, seemingly wishing she could come with me," said Biscuits' Director of In-Game Entertainment April Catarella. "On Sunday, I get to grant her that wish and so will all the other dog-lovers out there."
As part of the festivities, the Biscuits will hold a pregame parade and encourage all dogs and their owners to strut their stuff. In the third inning, the team will hold a pet/owner look-alike contest on the field, with the crowd judging the winner. Pet owners wishing to participate in the parade must be on the field by 1:30 PM.
The Biscuits will also be featuring video vignettes on the video board throughout the day, spotlighting potential pets currently housed in local shelters and contact information for those seeking a new family friend.
The Montgomery Kennel Club will be on hand to hold a "Meet the Breed" event in the box office lobby. Owners of purebred pets will present their pets and answer questions about that particular breed.
Each fan attending the game is encouraged to bring one dog with them to the ballpark. Dogs will we admitted to the ballpark through the first base gate and must be restrained on a leash throughout the day.
Individual and group tickets for the Biscuits remaining 2009 home schedule are currently available by calling the Biscuits at (334) 323-2255, visiting the Biscuit Box Office at Riverwalk Stadium or logging on to BiscuitsBaseball.com.
