MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Montgomery Biscuits avoided the sweep by defeating the Jacksonville Suns 7-4 on Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium. The Suns and Biscuits are tied atop the South Division with each team having five games remaining in the regular season.

The Biscuits broke the ice against Suns starter Brian Flynn in the third inning. With two outs, Montgomery loaded the bases and then Flynn hit Derek Dietrich to force in a run to give the Biscuits a 1-0 lead.

The Suns stormed back in the top of the fourth sending eight men to the plate against Biscuits pitcher Jake Thompson. With the base loaded, Kyle Jensen scored on a wild pitch to tie the game 1-1, and then Jose Duarte and Alfredo Lopez crossed the plate on a throwing error by catcher Mark Thomas to put the Suns in front 3-1. Chris Gutierrez drove in his 45th run of the season with a double off the left field wall, with Jake Smolinski scoring to increase the lead to 4-1.

The Biscuits then scored six unanswered runs, with three in the fifth and three in the seventh for the 7-4 victory. Derek Dietrich drove in three runs for Montgomery. Omar Luna had three hits for the second straight game and scored twice.

Grant Dayton (2-1) allowed three runs on four hits in 1.2 innings in the loss. Marquise Fleming (4-5) tossed two hitless innings for the win.

The Suns begin a pivotal five-game series in Jackson against the Generals on Thursday night. The Suns took three of five from the Generals at the Baseball Grounds earlier this season.
