PEARL, Mis. - Despite making a whopping six errors, the Biscuits (2-0) somehow rallied to defeat the Mississippi Braves (0-2), 5-4, for a second-straight game on Saturday night at Trustmark Park. The Biscuits are 2-0 for the first time since 2019.

Darius Vines was on the mound for the M-Braves, and the righty set the Biscuits down in order in the top of the first inning, striking out Kameron Misner and Curtis Mead-both swinging.

Jayden Murray made his first start for the Biscuits since September 1, 2021, and the right-hander ran into trouble in the first inning, walking Luke Waddell after getting Michal Harris II to ground out to third. Jesse Franklin V moved Waddell over to third with a base hit to right and then Drew Lugbauer swatted an RBI-single to right on a 3-0 pitch to put Mississippi ahead 1-0 early. Murray got C.J. Alexander to ground into the inning-ending 4-6-3 double play on the next pitch.

Vines struck out Austin Shenton and Jordan Qsar to begin the top of the second in another one-two-three frame. Murray bounced back in the bottom of the second and kept the M-Braves off the board. Vines struck out Roberto Alvarez and Brett Wisely to run his total to six in another clean third inning. Murray worked a one-two-three bottom of the third, and struck out Franklin V for his first punch-out.

Vines retired the first 10 batters he faced before walking Misner with one out in the fourth. Mead then walked before Shenton sliced an RBI-single to left to tie the game at one. Miller Hogan came on to relieve Murray in the fourth, but served up a solo home run to straightaway center to Trey Harris, who put Mississippi back in front, 2-1. Vines then worked a one-two-three top of the fifth.

A.J. Puckett relieved Vines in the sixth, and despite allowing a double to Mead, kept it a 2-1 contest. In the bottom of the sixth, Jordan Cowan added an RBI-double to make it 3-1, and Harris tallied an RBI-single to make it 4-1. After Qsar cracked his first Double-A hit-a double into left-center field-Hill Alexander brought home the left fielder with a sac fly to make it a 4-2 contest in the top of the seventh.

Indigo Diaz walked the bases loaded to begin the top of the ninth and then Alexander, who made two errors in right field, pummeled a three-run double into the gap in left-center field to put the Biscuits on top for the first time, 5-4.

Chris Gau came on in the bottom of the ninth and with a runner on first and two outs, the righty got Franklin to pop up, but Shenton dropped the ball for the sixth error of the game. Lugbauer was up next and the first baseman blasted a towering fly ball to right that was ultimately caught on the warning track by Alexander to end a wild game in Pearl.

The Biscuits will try to improve to 3-0 in the series finale when Ian Seymour takes on Jared Shuster in the battle of the southpaws at 2:05 PM.

The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium for the first time since 2021 with a six-game series against the Tennessee Smokies on Opening Night with a MAX Fireworks Show on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:35 PM.

The rest of the series will include Military Wednesday presented by WOW! on Wednesday, April 13; Biscuits-Themed Hat Shirt Giveaway & Thirsty Thursday on Thursday, April 14; Ladies Night on Friday, April 15; The Nine Night & MAX Fireworks on Saturday, April 16; and Easter Egg Hunt with Bark in the Park on Sunday, April 17.
