Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY - The Montgomery Biscuits announced an exciting promotional schedule for their inaugural 2004 season, proving that they will make their debut in Montgomery with a bang! The Biscuits will team with MAX, Your Community Credit Union! to light up the night sky over downtown Montgomery six times this year.

MAX will present these fireworks spectaculars following Biscuits games at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium. The displays are the highlight of the promotional calendar, which features theme nights, giveaways and nationally recognized acts.

These fireworks spectaculars will debut after the Biscuits' home opener on Friday, April 16, when Double-A baseball returns to Montgomery after 23 years. The Biscuits and MAX will also offer fireworks on the Fourth of July and finish their regular season on Monday, September 6 with a fan appreciation night, featuring a fireworks spectacular. The displays will also be featured on Saturday, May 14, Saturday, July 24 and Saturday, August 7.

"MAX is very excited to be supporting the community through the family fun of Montgomery Biscuits Baseball," said MAX President and CEO Thomas Ballow.

"Biscuits games are going to be full of family-friendly experiences that are new to people in Montgomery," said Biscuits co-owner Tom Dickson. "We're very pleased that our partnership with MAX, Your Community Credit Union! will allow us to bring these fireworks shows to the people of Montgomery, and we're very proud of the rest of our promotional schedule as well."

That promotional schedule includes several special guests, including The Famous Chicken, appearing on Saturday, June 12. The zany ZOOperstars! Bring their inflatable antics to Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday, August 21. BirdZerk!, a character conceived by Dave Raymond (aka The Phillie Phanatic) makes his appearance on Friday, August 6. Baseball's favorite nerd Myron Noodleman brings his coke-bottle glasses and too-short pants to Montgomery on Saturday, July 10. David Browning, playing "The Mayberry Deputy," will patrol the ballpark on Friday, April 30.

Former Atlanta Brave Sid Bream will be a featured guest speaker at Family Faith Night on Saturday, July 24.

The Biscuits will move their April 21 and 28 games to 10:35 a.m. for two Grand Slam School Day events. The Wednesday games combine education and fun as Montgomery school children arrive to the park in the thousands. The days fuse baseball and education by showing children the importance of education in sports.

The Saturday, May 1 game will pit Auburn fans against Crimson Tide fans on Auburn / Alabama Night presented by WLWI and 95.1 Fox. Fans of each university will be encouraged to wear school colors, cheer for their teams and compete head-to-head in on-field promotions. The Biscuits will roll back time to the days of the Montgomery Rebels on Friday, August 13 for Turn Back the Clock Night. Mix 103 helps transform Montgomery into Margaritaville on Friday, June 25 for Jimmy Buffett Beach Party Night. The King comes back to claim his throne on Friday, July 9 for Elvis Night.

WSFA presents the Biscuit Bake-off on Saturday, August 14, in which Montgomery natives put their home-cooked biscuits to the test with celebrity judges. The Montgomery Advertiser will host Autograph Day on Sunday, May 19, in which fans are invited on the field to meet the entire team and take home signed souvenirs.

Every Sunday after the game features Coca-Cola Kids Run the Bases, offering children the opportunity to circle the base paths the same way the Biscuits players do.
