Montgomery Biscuits News Release

BILOXI, Mis. - The Biscuits exploded for 10 runs on 10 hits in the top of the first inning and led the Biloxi Shuckers, 10-1, in the top of the third before rain suspended game two of the six-game series on Thursday night at MGM Park. The nine-inning game will be resumed on Friday at 5:35 PM CT with a seven-inning game three to follow the conclusion of game two. Additionally, the doubleheader scheduled for Saturday, June 26, has been changed back to a single game at 6:35 PM CT. That doubleheader will now be played when the Biscuits return to Biloxi for a six-game series at the end of July.

Jesus Castillo, who was 0-6 in seven starts lifetime against the Biscuits, allowed a pair of lead-off singles to Michael Smith and Xavier Edwards before getting Miles Mastrobuoni to line-out to left. Jonathan Aranda then muscled an RBI-double to left to put the Biscuits up 1-0.

Ruben Cardenas stepped up in the next at-bat and swatted a two-run double to make it 3-0. Rene Pinto was next, and the Biscuits catcher laced an RBI-single up the middle to increase the lead to 4-0. Castillo then struck out Seaver Whalen before allowing an RBI-double to Moises Gomez to make it 5-0. Castillo walked Cal Stevenson, the number nine hitter, and was removed for J.T. Hintzen.

Smith hit an RBI-single, his second hit of the inning, which made it a 6-0 contest. Edwards then banged a two-run double to make it 8-0 and was halfway to the cycle in the first inning. Mastrobuoni came through with an RBI-single to make it 9-0, and then Aranda hit an RBI-single of his own to cap off the 10-run inning before Cardenas flew out to center to end the top of the first.

Cristofer Ogando opened for the Biscuits and worked a scoreless bottom of the first before surrendering a solo homer to Brent Diaz in the second just before the heavens opened up.

The Biscuits will return to Riverwalk Stadium for a six-game series against the Mississippi Braves on a Golden Biscuits Tuesday on June 29. The rest of the series will include Left Handers Day & Military Wednesday presented by WOW! on June 30; A Summer Tank Top Giveaway by ALFA Insurance on Thursday, July 1; A Sleeve Cooler Giveaway presented by 95.1 The Fox on Friday, July 2; Patriotic Night with MAX Fireworks on Saturday, July 3; And an Independence Day Celebration with MAX Fireworks on Sunday, July 4.
