Birmingham Secures Series Win with 5-4 Victory over Biloxi
April 24, 2022 - Southern League (SL)
Birmingham Barons News Release
The Barons slipped past the Shuckers in the penultimate game of the 6-game set 5-4.
Birmingham got hits from each of their first six hitters in the lineup. The scoring got going in the second inning. J.J. Muno singled to left field to bring in Craig Dedelow. That was Muno's first RBI of the year.
Biloxi got revenge on a Joey Wiemer three-run home run in the third inning. The MLB Pipeline Top 100 Prospect now has two long balls this season. Barons catcher Raudy Read followed suit in the next half inning with a two-run equalizer to deep left field, his first of the year.
Biloxi got another run in the fourth inning. Birmingham starter Steven Moyers finished five innings and allowed four runs with nine hits, striking out five.
After Moyers exited the game, Taylor Broadway pitched a scoreless inning of relief and that was enough to get him the win after Craig Dedelow's two-run home run to give the Barons the 5-4 lead, which ultimately decided the game.
Birmingham hosts Biloxi on Sunday with a 4:00 CT first pitch in the series finale. RHP Davis Martin (2-0, 2.40) squares up against RHP Carlos Luna (0-1, 2.00), a rematch from earlier in the series.
