Birds make four-game stop in Memphis

THE OPPOSITION: The Redbirds will host the Round Rock Express for four games starting Monday, July 17th. The Express currently sit atop the American South Division standings and boasts the best record in the Pacific Coast League at 57-33. However, the Redbirds took three-of-four games from the Express in their first meeting of 2006, May 30-June 2. The two teams have squared off 20 times overall with a 10-10 head-to-head record all-time.
HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS: The Redbirds will honor those who served and are serving our country with Military Appreciation Night on Monday, July 17th. The Rock 103 Great Unsigned Showcase Summer Concert Series will continue with a post-game band as Patty Harper and Faultline with special guest Steve Harper entertain fans in the entry plaza. Tuesday, July 18th Kix 106 will host karaoke in the entry plaza before the game. It's another Time Warner Tuesday with a special giveaway for the first 1,500 fans courtesy of Time Warner Cable. July 19th marks the return of the ever-popular Working Money Wednesdays at AZP. The first 1,500 fans will receive cash courtesy of First Tennessee. Thursday, July 20th is Community Night at AutoZone Park as the Redbirds welcome Midtown to the ballpark. It's also another Grand Slam Thursday with 98.1 the Max and the exclusive party tent. MONEYBALL: The Redbirds and First Tennessee have teamed up to bring fans their own version of "Moneyball." The first 1,500 fans through the gates of AZP on Wednesday, July 19th will receive an envelope containing cash. Giveaways range from one to one-hundred dollar bills.
MIDTOWN MEETS DOWNTOWN: The Redbirds will welcome one of their closest neighbors to the downtown ballpark with Midtown Night on Thursday, July 20th. Community Nights feature a community expo, a little league parade and special recognition and performances by community members.
PROUD TO SERVE: The Redbirds will recognize those who have served or are serving our country with Military Appreciation Night on Monday, July 17th. The night will be sponsored by the Tennessee National Guard, U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. Fans will receive mini American Flags and the International Guard color guard will present the flag as part of a special pre-game ceremony to honor those who work to protect America's freedom.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Redbirds will hit the road for their shortest road trip of the season following the four-game homestand. Memphis will travel to Iowa for a busy three-day, five-game series. The Cubs and Redbirds will play double-headers on July 21st and 23rd to make up for games that were rained out in late April. Memphis will enjoy an off-day on Monday, July 24th before starting an eight-game homestand with Salt Lake and Colorado Springs July 25th- August 1st.
