RENO, NEV.- The Reno Bighorns have partnered with Roy Gomm Elementary School, Truckee Meadows Lawn & Landscape, and the Garden Shop Nursery to host an NBA D-League Green Week event. Members of the Bighorns front office staff and Bruno will be on hand to help plant trees and flowers at the school Friday, April 6 at 10 a.m.

"We are very excited to partner with Roy Gomm, Truckee Meadows Lawn & Landscape, and the Garden Shop Nursery for this event," said Mike Reynolds, Bighorns vice president. "It's very important to give back to the community through events like Green Week. Just because our season is over, doesn't mean our commitment to the community will be any less."

2012 NBA Green Week presented by Sprint will take place April 4 to 11. Throughout Green Week, league and team greening efforts include auctions to support environmental protection organizations, public service announcements, hands-on community service projects, recycling programs, green giveaways, promotions to encourage fans to "go green," and more.

Geoff Faubion, owner of Truckee Meadows Lawn & Landscape, knows it's important to teach kids about how trees and plants benefit the environment. "We are going to show the students the process involved in planting, growing their interest in the subject. It's rewarding to be able to partner with these organizations and give back to the community."

"The kids and staff are thrilled to have the Bighorns visit the school for Green Week. We are looking forward to having some new trees and flowers at the school," said Roy Gomm Principal KayAnn Pilling.

The event will take place at Roy Gomm Elementary, located at 5000 Mayberry Drive in Reno, Friday at 10 a.m.

Throughout Green Week, NBA.com will feature a micro site, www.nba.com/green, offering everyday greening tips for fans and more. Season tickets for the 2012-2013 Reno Bighorns season are on sale now. Packages start at just $99. For more information call (775)853-8220 or visit RenoBighorns.com.
