Bighorns Lose Offensive Duel to Vipers

RENO, NEV.- Blake Ahearn was on the verge of a historic night from the free-throw line until the Reno Bighorns succumbed to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and their high powered offense, 112-129. Andre Emmett scored a game high 32 points and six rebounds while Mo Charlo added 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Coming into the match with the Vipers, Ahearn had made 83 consecutive free-throws, an NBA D-League record, and had his eye set on the NBA record of 97. He went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, making 93 consecutive free-throws and falling four free-throws short of the record.

The D-League leading offense of the Vipers was in full force Friday night, converting on 59.3 percent of shot attempts from the field, including 57.1 percent on three-pointers.

Ahearn scored 20 points for the Bighorns and Terrance Thomas had 13 points and nine rebounds.

Fans can watch Ahearn go for the consecutive free-throw record on Saturday night at the Reno Events Center against the Vipers.
