Helena Bighorns News Release
The Helena Bighorns added some size and speed to their line up on Thursday as they acquired forward Jeff Diehl from the Traverse City Stars.
Diehl is a rugged 6'1" 200 lb. left winger who is entering his 2nd season in the North American Hockey League. The Jenison, MI native spent the entire 2004-2005 season with the Central Texas Marshals, where he had 5 assists and amassed 204 penalty minutes in 51 games. This season, Diehl picked up 1 assist and 7 penalty minutes in 5 games with the Traverse City Stars. The Bighorns parted with a 2006 4th round draft pick to acquire Diehl.
NEW BIGHORN JEFF DIEHL
Bighorns President and interim coach, Mike Butters, is anticipating solid play from Diehl. "Jeff moves very well for a big guy. His skating is solid and his physical play will be an asset to our club." Butters added, "He is an impact player and will give us an honest effort every night."
Diehl will see his first action in a Bighorn uniform Friday night when the Big Blue heads to Bozeman for a cross-state match against the rival Ice Dogs. The game will be broadcast on 1340 KCAP AM and on sportjuice.com. The two teams will face each other again on Saturday night in Helena. It will be the home opener for the Bighorns. Tickets are going fast and can be purchased by calling the Bighorn Ticket Hotline at 457-2817 or by stopping by the Helena Ice Arena.
