
Big inning leads Cats past Pelicans

Fort Worth scored 10 times in the fourth inning on its way to a 13-8 victory over Pensacola on Thursday night at LaGrave Field.
It was the Cats' third straight victory as they improved their second half record to 8-3, first in the Central League standings. They have now scored a total of 39 runs in their last three games.
Trailing 3-2 going to the fourth, the Cats exploded, scoring 10 times on six hits in the inning.
Bryon Smith got the scoring started with a two-run double, giving the Cats a 4-2 lead. They added four more runs on two-run singles by Terence Green and Caros Adolfo.
The inning was capped off when Jordan Foster roped a three-run triple down the right-field line and Jason Radwan knocked in a run with an RBI groundout to make it 12-3 Fort Worth. The Cats sent 13 men to the plate in the fourth inning.
Pensacola got a run back in the fifth inning on a solo homer by Carlos Mendoza. They would add two more in the sixth and two in the eighth to cut the Cats' lead to 12-8.
Fort Worth added a run in the bottom of the eighth when Green smacked his sixth homer of the season, an opposite-field solo shot, giving the Cats their 13th run.
Ryan Weems (7-2) notched the victory as he went five innings and allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out six.
Jeff Norris (4-2) suffered the loss for Pensacola as he permitted nine earned runs on nine hits in three innings of work before being chased from the game in the fourth inning.
Game 3 of the series is Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Logan Stout (3-3) will pitch for the Cats.
