Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports have matched their longest winning streak of the season at four games with a 4-3 win over Jackson Thursday at Fair Grounds Field.
The Sports scored the winning run with two-outs in the eighth inning on an infield hit by Mick Kurhan that scored Hector Lebron from second base. Lebron had reached base on a walk by losing pitcher Javier Martinez.
Shreveport had taken a 1-0 lead in the fifth on back to back doubles by Brandon Haygood and Jose Rivas and increased that lead to 2-0 in the seventh on an RBI double by Chad Gambill. Gambill has now hit safely in 15 consecutive games.
Jackson took the lead 3-2 with three runs in the seventh only to have Shreveport tied the contest at 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh on the first home run of the season by Dalphie Correa. That setup the winning run in the eighth inning.
Shreveport and Jackson will meet in the third game of the series Friday. Game time 7:05.
