CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Miracle scored five runs in the first inning and held on late for an 8-5 victory over the Clearwater Threshers on Tuesday night at Spectrum Field.

The first five batters of the game all picked up hits and scored in the frame. Ryan Jeffers opened the scoring with a two-run double. Ryan Costello followed with an RBI double of his own off the wall in left center field, narrowly missing a three-run homer.

Clearwater starter Andrew Brown (2-5) did not make it out of the inning. He faced all nine batters, recorded two outs, and was charged with all five runs. He allowed six hits, walked one, and struck out one.

The Threshers scored once in the bottom of the first and added a pair in the third. Miracle starter Jhoan Duran was forced to depart after just 2.2 innings due to a high pitch count. He was charged with three runs on four hits. He walked three, all in the third inning, and struck out three.

Trevor Larnach delivered an RBI single in the fifth to put the Miracle up, 6-3, but Clearwater scored twice in the seventh to pull within a run.

Trey Cabbage launched a towering home run to right field in the eighth and threw out a runner at the plate from left field to close the bottom of the frame. In the ninth, Gabriel Maciel hit his first home run of the season to pad the Miracle lead. Maciel went 3-for-5 to lead the 13-hit attack for Fort Myers. Larnach, Royce Lewis, and Andrew Bechtold also had multi-hit games.

Johan Quezada (3-1) earned the win in relief with 3.1 strong innings. He allowed just one hit and one run, striking out four. Derek Molina picked up his first save by recording the final nine outs of the game for the Miracle.

Fort Myers is now 7-1 against Clearwater this season and 5-0 at Spectrum Field.
