
Big Fifth Inning Lifts Sox to Win

Great Falls, MT - Tonight the Great Falls White Sox defeated the Orem Owlz 8-4 at Centene Stadium. Noe Rodriguez (1-4) picked up the win for the Sox as he worked six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits. The loss went to Kelly Shearer (1-3) as he worked four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits.
In the first inning Orem was able to get a sac fly from Mark Trumbo to make it 1-0. They added a lead off homerun in the second by Flint Whipke to extend the lead.
Great Falls cut the lead in half in the third on an RBI ground out by Matt Tribble scoring Evan Tartaglia.
The Sox would finish the comeback in the fifth when they sent 10 men to the plate and scored six times. In the inning one run scored on an error, Manny Rodriguez had a run scoring single and both Francisco Hernandez and JJ Schmidt had a two RBI hits. The Sox would go up 7-2.
Orem would get two of those runs back in the sixth when Mark Trumbo hit a two run homerun to get the Owlz back in the game. The Sox would add a run on a wild pitch in the seventh and go on to the 8-4 win.
Tomorrow night the Sox will play the fourth of a four game series with the Orem Owlz. The starters for the game are: Yunior Novoa (LHP) for Great Falls and Daniel Hawkins (RHP) for Orem. Game time is at 4:00pm and can be heard on 560AM-KMON starting at 3:45.
