Rockies fall to Missoula in 9th

The Casper Rockies lost to Missoula for the sixth time in seven tries this season with a 9-5 final score on Saturday. With the Rockies trailing by three in the 8th inning, Casper tagged three runs on the Osprey to tie the contest heading into the final inning. Two costly errors by the Casper defense failed to help righty Andrew Johnston in the 9th and Missoula scored four runs to get the win. Missoula closer Dan Pohlman blew the save in the 8th yet earned the win working the 9th. Johnston suffered his second loss of the year.

For Casper, Eric Young Jr. had another solid outing at the dish, going 3-4 with two RBI's. Corey Wimberly also had a strong game at the plate with a 2-4 game including his 23rd stolen base of the year. Starting pitcher Anuery Rodriguez worked five innings for Casper, striking out a season high six men.

Casper welcomes in Helena for a four-game series starting Sunday at 5:05. Xavier Cedeno gets the nod for Casper. With the Rockies loss, they sit 10-10 in the 2nd half of the Pioneer League standings. Ogden holds a one game lead on Casper, with Orem another game behind Casper at 9-11 and Idaho Falls is 8-12. The Rockies still hold a three game overall lead over Orem for the wildcard in the South for a post season bid.
