February 13, 2008 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Atlantic City Surf News Release
Atlantic City, N.J. - Bernie Robbins Stadium, home of the Atlantic City Surf, will host a variety of baseball events before the Canadian-American League club's home schedule kicks off on May 26.
Richard Stockton College, located in Pomona, N.J., and a member of the Division III New Jersey Athletic Conference, will be playing six home games at the stadium this season. All games include free admission and free parking. The schedule starts with a matchup against the City College of New York at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15. The Ospreys will then host five NJAC games over the next two weeks, concluding with a doubleheader against William Paterson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
Richard Stockton went 22-14-1 in 2007, including a 9-8-1 NJAC record, and was declared the ECAC Metro postseason co-champion. The 22 wins marked a school record, while the squad also made its first conference tournament appearance.
The NJAC matchups will not be the only college baseball games at Bernie Robbins Stadium this spring. The Division I Northeast Conference will host its postseason tournament from May 22-24 at the park.
In another baseball event at the stadium, Atlantic City High School will face Holy Spirit High School on May 17 at 7 p.m. Tickets and parking for the event will be free of charge. The game comes after a successful Holy Spirit-Mainland High matchup took place at Bernie Robbins in 2007. Holy Spirit, located in Absecon, N.J., put together a 16-8 record last season, while Atlantic City went 2-17.
"Bernie Robbins Stadium is a great venue for sports in South Jersey, and we're proud to partner with Richard Stockton College, the Northeast Conference, and Atlantic City and Holy Spirit High Schools to hold these events free of charge for the community," Surf vice president Ryan Conley said.
The Atlantic City Surf open their 2008 Can-Am League home schedule on May 26 against the league's new Ottawa franchise. Season and single-game tickets are available by calling the Surf ticket office at (609) 344-7873.
